To Our Friends and Family

As many of you know, David & I are both not the world's best at keeping in touch...Simply having our cell phones in the same room with us is a big accomplishment! However, we both really miss the family & friends that we don't get to see often & are determined to be better at keeping in touch. I'm working through my personal aversion to sites like MySpace and Facebook, & we've decided that this new blog site will be a great way to keep everyone updated on our past, present, and future happenings... At this time last year, I would never have dreamed that I'd be setting up a "Rayburn Family Blog" while wearing a wedding ring on my finger & feeling a baby kick in my stomach! We've got plenty of stories & pictures that we're excited to share. We hope you'll enjoy them (I'll try to let David do most of the writing, since he's got the true writing talent!), and we also hope that you'll keep in touch & keep us updated as well. I know we haven't been the only busy ones lately... Here's to a new year & lots of new beginnings! ~Stacey

Our Story

It's funny how the things that you want most in life are so hard to come by yet so close to you. I believe that God puts people in our lives to teach us about ourselves and to help us learn that this world isn’t meant to be faced alone. To truly know someone, or better yet to have someone truly know you, is a divine, amazing grace that empowers us to love without hesitation and to change this world as we have come to know it.

I met Stacey in 6th grade. I remember a shy girl with curled bangs, a blue jean jacket, mouth full of braces and the most trusting baby blues that I had ever dreamed of seeing. I was certain that I wasn’t tough enough for her... That sweet, loving spirit was surely created for someone with a much harder heart, but I still wanted to know her. It took all the courage in this growingly awkward 13 year old boy to lay a shy kiss on her cheek and clear the path to a winding road and a lifelong friendship.

We grew up together, completely apart. We learned about life, the world, our families and ourselves on our own. What we found out was strangely similar. I have no doubt that although we are programmed to question it, God's timing is perfect and no matter how hard we try to convince ourselves that we know what we’re doing, fate changes everything.

It’s hard to say when Stacey and I fell in love... I like to think that it was the day we met, or that fateful moment after Butch Broom's 6th grade choir class, but experience has taught me that our love was learned, gradually, at a pace that we could never hope to speed up or slow down.

On September 12th, 2009, our lives began. We acknowledged to God and our families that we were meant to spend eternity together. We promised to continue to grow together, to preserve the memories that we had made throughout all of these years and to share in the new ones that are sure to come.
